Taking a DRBD resource out of service will stop access to the resource by setting the state to “secondary”. The resource will remain “up” to allow for faster switchover and for synchronization to continue (see the DRBD_TAKE_DOWN_ON_REMOVE setting in /etc/default/LifeKeeper). After taking the resource out of service, all activity can be stopped (take the resource “down”) by right-clicking on the resource in the right pane on the LifeKeeper GUI and selecting Take Resource Down.

  1. There are 3 ways to begin:
    1. Right-click on an in service resource in the right pane on the LifeKeeper GUI and select Out of Service beginning with step 2.
    2. Select Edit > Resource >Out of Service or right-click on the resource in the left pane on the LifeKeeper GUI and select Out of Service.
      1. The Server dialog will appear.

Select the name of the server where the DRBD resource is in-service. All servers in your cluster are included in the dropdown list box.

Click Next to continue.

ii. The Out of Service dialog will appear if selected from the Edit menu.

Select the name of the tag on the selected server you wish to take out-of-service. All tags configured on the selected server that are in-service are included in the selection box.

Click Next to continue with step 2.

  1. Confirmation information box will appear.

Select Out of Service to take the hierarchy out-of-service on the selected server.

  1. Another information box will appear confirming that the DRBD resource is successfully out-of-service.

Select Done.
