LifeKeeper for Linux v10.1.0 is supported on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in a limited Technical Preview capacity for evaluation purposes only. Usage of LifeKeeper v10.1.0 in an Ubuntu production environment is not supported.
Restrictions
The following restrictions apply when evaluating the LifeKeeper for Linux v10.1.0 Ubuntu Technical Preview.
- Upgrades from the LifeKeeper for Linux v10.1.0 Ubuntu Technical Preview to later LifeKeeper for Linux versions will not be supported. In particular, any LifeKeeper clusters created on Ubuntu for evaluation purposes will need to be fully recreated in a future version of LifeKeeper that fully supports Ubuntu production workloads.
- The following Recovery Kits are supported on Ubuntu on a limited evaluation basis. While it is possible to install other Recovery Kits on Ubuntu, they are not currently supported.
- Amazon EC2™
- Amazon Route 53™
- DataKeeper
- Filesystem
- Generic Application
- IP Address
- PostgreSQL Database
- Quick Service Protection (QSP)
- Quorum/witness functionality (host-based majority quorum or storage-based quorum) is not supported on Ubuntu.
- Usage of the LifeKeeper Java GUI is not supported on Ubuntu.
Known Issues

| Unexpected “-e” strings may appear in some LifeKeeper warning/error messages on Ubuntu. These “-e” strings do not cause any functional issues and can be safely ignored. |
When generating a support archive via /opt/LifeKeeper/bin/lksupport on Ubuntu:

| If the LifeKeeper for Linux setup script is run again after initial installation on Ubuntu, a warning message of the form will be shown: “The following files have been modified and will be overwritten during the installation process. If you wish to keep these changes please back them up before continuing: /opt/LifeKeeper/config/flg /opt/LifeKeeper/config/flg /opt/LifeKeeper/config/lkGUIapp.desktop /opt/LifeKeeper/config/lkGUIapp.kdelnk /opt/LifeKeeper/config/lkGUIapp.desktop /opt/LifeKeeper/config/lkGUIapp.kdelnk” This warning message can be safely ignored. |
