Now that the master database has been relocated to replicated storage, the MSSQL server resources are ready to be protected using LifeKeeper. Before configuring it with LifeKeeper, start MSSQL on node-a.
- In the LifeKeeper User Interface, click the “Operations” dropdown and select “Create Resource Hierarchy” Select “Quick Service Protection” as the Recovery Kit. Click “NEXT”.
- Select “mssql-server” for the Service Name from the dropdown list. Click “NEXT”.
- Enter or select the following values. Click “NEXT”.

- The wizard reviews the values. Once it completes, click “EXECUTE” to continue.
- Once you confirm the resource is successfully created, click “EXTEND RESOURCE HIERARCHY”.
- On the “Extend Resource Hierarchy” wizard, confirm the default values and click “NEXT”.
- Once the Pre-Extend checks are performed, select or enter additional settings. Click “NEXT”.

- The wizard reviews the values. Once it completes, click “EXECUTE”.
- The verification is now complete. Click “CLOSE” to exit the dialog. To extend the extended resource hierarchy to another server in the cluster, select the “EXTEND THIS RESOURCE TO ANOTHER SERVER” button.
- Return to the LifeKeeper User Interface. The “QSP-mssql-server” resource is defined as shown below.
