To create a HULFT resource from the primary server, complete the following steps:
- From the LifeKeeper GUI menu, select Edit, then Server. From the dropdown menu, select Create Resource Hierarchy.

- Select HULFT and click Next.
- Refer to the table below to fill in the information.
| Field | Tips |
|---|---|
| HULEXEP path | Enter the path name of the HULFT execution module storage directory corresponding to the HULEXEP environment variable. The default is the value set in /root/.bash_profile or /usr/local. |
| HULPATH path | Enter the HULFT system configuration file storage directory corresponding to the HULPATH environment variable. The default is the value set in /root/.bash_profile or the path to an existing filesystem resource. |
| HULFT administrator user name | Enter the administrator user name that performs starting and stopping the HULFT instance. Specifying a user other than root is possible starting with HULFT8. |
| Filesystem Tag | Select the file system resource you wish to associate with the protected HULFT, such as the receive file store directory. If none, select “none”. |
| Tag | Select or enter the tag name for the HULFT resource hierarchy. You can either select the default [hulft] or enter a unique tag. |
- When you click Create, the Create Resource Wizard will create your HULFT resource. LifeKeeper will verify that you have provided valid data to create your resource. If LifeKeeper detects a problem, an ERROR will appear in the information box.
- An information box appears announcing the successful creation of your HULFT resource hierarchy. You must Extend the hierarchy to another node in your cluster to achieve failover protection. Click Next.
- Click Continue. LifeKeeper will then launch the Extend Wizard. Refer to Step 2 under Extending the HULFT Resource Hierarchy for details on how to extend your resource hierarchy to another server.
- If you click Cancel, a dialog box will appear warning you that you will need to come back and extend your HULFT resource hierarchy to another server at some other time to put it under LifeKeeper protection.
