Creating an SAP MaxDB Resource Hierarchy

*Before you begin to create the SAP MaxDB Resource Hierarchy, refer to Install LifeKeeper for Linux and SAP MaxDB Configuration Considerations and make sure you have completed the necessary configuration tasks.

The steps to create a MaxDB resource is as follows:

1. Before creating the MaxDB resource verify if lsof is installed onto your cluster.
2. Navigate to the LifeKeeper Web Management Console
3. Click the “Operations” button and click “Create Resource Hierarchy”

4. Click the dropdown to select the “SapMaxDB” Recovery Kit

5. Click “NEXT”

6. Verify the entries for the program folder, instance, system user, and XUSER key.
   1. The program directory should the path entered for GlobalPrograms during the installation
   2. The instance should be the name of the Database.
   3. The system user should be user chosen for maxdb, default is sdb.
   4. The XUSER key should be the name given during the creation. When the example XUSER key was created, sdb was the name given.

7. Click NEXT

8. This screen should follow

9. Verify the information and click EXECUTE

10. After the resource has been successfully created, a screen should appear that looks like this.

11. There will be an option to extend the resource hierarchy, click “Extend Resource Hierarchy”

12. Choose the server you want to extend the resource to

13. Click “NEXT”

14. Wait until the Pre-extend checks have finished.
15. Click “Execute”
16. On the next page click the child DataKeeper resource to replicate. This should be the DataKeeper resource created for the MaxDB resource.

17. Click “NEXT”
    After validation has been completed, this screen should appear

18. Click “EXECUTE”

19. Click “CLOSE”
