Perform a switchover to ensure that the HULFT resource hierarchy can run on all nodes.

In addition, simulate a failure on the primary node and verify that the Recovery Kit for HULFT performs recovery and failover actions as follows.

Recovery

When a failure occurs on the primary node, the Recovery Kit for HULFT performs recovery.

  • It recovers the HULFT Windows service processes on the primary node.

Failover

When an irrecoverable failure occurs on the primary node, the Recovery Kit for HULFT performs a failover.

  • When there is a dependency between the HULFT resource hierarchy and the IP address resource, the IP address resource (the child resource) becomes active on the standby node first. This assigns the virtual IP address used by the HULFT instance to the standby node.
  • When there is a dependency between the HULFT resource hierarchy and the volume resource, the volume resource (the child resource) becomes active on the standby node first. This makes the volume containing the HULPATH folder used by the HULFT instance accessible on the standby node.
  • Finally, the HULFT resource on the standby node becomes active, starting the HULFT Windows service processes on the standby node.
