Description

Even when split-brain countermeasures are implemented in LifeKeeper, if all communication paths are disconnected and the active node loses Quorum, there may be cases where the DataKeeper volume resource (mirror volume) enters a “split-brain state” upon the restoration of communication paths after a failover.

Cause

After completion of the OSU action, the DataKeeper volume resource will remain in the mirror Source role. Meanwhile, if the standby node acquires Quorum, it initiates a failover. At this point, the DataKeeper volume resource on the standby node will become a mirror Source. When the communication path is restored in this situation, DataKeeper determines the state as “split-brain,” and it is necessary for the user to decide which system’s data to adopt. In these cases, the user should resolve split brain using the latest copy of the data, on the standby system that performed failover.

Suggested Action

Perform Split-Brain Recovery via the LifeKeeper GUI.
