We have modified the terminology used to describe the settings and server roles in LifeKeeper. They have been standardized as follows. Please refer to this document as needed and substitute the new terms accordingly.

  • When extending resources, we previously used “Template Server” as the name for the source server, but have now changed it to “Primary Server”.
    Old: Template Server
    New: Primary Server
  • When extending resources, we previously used “Target Server” or “Target Node” to refer to the destination server or node for extending. We have now changed this to “Standby Server” or “Standby Node”.
    Old: Target Server/Node
    New: Standby Server/Node
  • The terminology for standby servers has been changed from “Backup Server” or “Backup Node” to “Standby Server” or “Standby Node”.
    Old: Backup Server/Node
    New: Standby Server/Node
  • The term used to describe the server state has been changed from “Standby” to “Passive”.
    Old: Standby
    New: Passive
  • The recovery kit names have changed
Old: ** Recovery Kit. (Ex. Microsoft SQL Server Recovery Kit.)
New: Recovery Kit for **. (Ex. Recovery Kit for Microsoft SQL Server.)
