Overview

The Recovery Kit for JP1/AJS provides fault-tolerant protection for the integrated system management software “JP1” developed by Hitachi, Ltd. If a failure occurs in the protected JP1 software, LifeKeeper first attempts recovery on its primary server. If the recovery fails, it executes a failover to the standby server. The following resources used by JP1 software are protected by the appropriate Recovery Kit (RK).

Resources used by JP1 software RK for protection
Shared files Recovery Kit for Volume
Virtual IP address associated with the JP1 logical host name Recovery Kit for IP Address

The JP1 products that Recovery Kit for JP1/AJS can protect are as follows:

  • JP1/Base
  • JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Manager(JP1/AJS3 – Manager)
  • JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Agent(JP1/AJS3 – Agent)

The resource hierarchy for protecting JP1/AJS3 – Manager is as follows :

JP1/AJS3-Manager Resource
    + JP1/Base Resource
        + IP Address Resource
        + Volume Resource

The resource hierarchy for protecting JP1/AJS3 – Agent is as follows :

JP1/AJS3-Agent Resource
    + JP1/Base Resource
        + IP Address Resource
        + Volume Resource

This document describes the operation of the Recovery Kit for JP1/AJS. For general LifeKeeper terminology and usage, refer to LifeKeeper for Linux Technical Documentation. For information about JP1, refer to the JP1 manual.

Prerequisites

  • You must have an IP Address resource and a Volume Resource hierarchy. Create these resources before creating the JP1/AJS resource. However, for LifeKeeper Single Server Protection, they may not be required depending on the configuration.
  • When using DataKeeper or DRBD as the base of the Volume Resource hierarchy, configure it for synchronous replication.
  • Do not install JP1/Base in a Volume protected by Volume Resource.
  • The logical hostname specified during JP1 setup must be 63 bytes or less, as this is required when configuring JP1 in a cluster.
