Before installing or removing RK for IIS, ensure that your system configuration meets the following requirements:

  • Operating System: For a list of supported operating systems, see Operating Systems.
  • LifeKeeper for Windows: The same version of LifeKeeper for Windows, including all required patches, must be installed on each server. Refer to the LifeKeeper for Windows Release Notes for detailed requirements.
  • DataKeeper for Windows: When using LifeKeeper for Windows, DataKeeper for Windows must be installed on each server.
  • Recovery Kit for IP Address: The Recovery Kit for IP Address (RK for IP Address) must be installed on each server. All TCP/IP configuration requirements applicable to the RK for IP Address also apply to RK for IIS.
  • Network Interface: Each server must have at least one TCP/IP-enabled network interface. For IP switching to function correctly, client systems connected to the local network must comply with standard TCP/IP specifications.
  • TCP/IP Protocol: TCP/IP must be properly configured on each server in accordance with the LifeKeeper for Windows configuration guidelines.
  • Internet Information Services (IIS): RK for IIS supports native versions of IIS on all versions of Microsoft Windows that are supported by LifeKeeper for Windows.

Before configuring LifeKeeper for Windows and RK for IIS, you must install and configure IIS, including the IIS server role and FTP functionality. The same versions of these components must be installed on each server. For a list of required components on each server, see Required Role and Role Services for IIS.
