Modifying Connection Check Settings

The connection check settings configured when an IIS Site resource hierarchy is created can be modified using LKWMC.

To modify these settings, right-click the resource and select Edit Properties. The following information is displayed:

  • Connection check status (Enabled or Disabled)
  • Connection check URL (when connection checking is enabled)
  • FTP over SSL status (Enabled or Disabled), if the service type is FTP

After updating the values, click Execute to apply the changes.

Changing the Port Number and IP Address

Changes to IIS site components—such as adding or removing bindings, or modifying IP addresses, port numbers, or host names—affect the configuration of IIS Site resources managed by LifeKeeper for Windows. Because LifeKeeper does not automatically synchronize IIS site configuration changes with existing IIS Site resource configurations, you must follow the procedure below before applying any such changes.

To modify an IIS site configuration:

  1. Take the IIS Site resource hierarchy out of service, and then delete the IIS Site resource hierarchy.
  2. Apply the required site configuration changes on the primary server using IIS Manager or other appropriate tools.
  3. Apply the same site configuration changes on the backup server using IIS Manager or other appropriate tools.
  4. Recreate the IIS Site resource hierarchy and extend it to the backup server to restore LifeKeeper protection.
